1.XML is extensible markup language
2.Tag-based syntax, very much like HTML
3.By the word 'extensible' means - you get to make up your own tags/ use the existing tag set.
4.Foundation for several next-generation web technologies
a.XHTML, RSS(Blogs), AJAX, Web services
5.XML does not replace HTML. (XML is a foundational technology, where as HTML has predefined tags to use)
6.What does XML do?
a.XML is used to structure and describe information.
b.Intended to be used with the Internet.
- XML can be used as a way to interchange data between disparate systems. (Example: Interaction between bank and loan company)
